Mid Century Makeovers Part 1

We haven't always been fans of the Mid Century Modern look but lately we have fallen in

love with some of the creative ways people have been "redoing" them. This basic white and brown look has caught our attention. Simple enough for just about anyone to try. Below the actual design within the piece itself created an easy pattern to follow.

This look could be accomplished with a vinyl cutout also.

Similar to the one above.

This is actually an ikea dresser....same look as mid century but with an ikea price.

A little busier pattern with the same type of results.

We'll do another post on this style soon where the focus is on color... lots of color! This style of furniture can pull it off both ways.

The Great Junk Hunt will have numerous vintage markets this year all over the country. See our show dates to see when we will be in your neck of the woods!

Make your plans to attend today!

Mason Jars, Denim, Burlap & Bling

A few years ago we did some styling for The Washington State Fair...it was their Round Up auction. The money raised is for scholarships. This year the theme is Denim & Diamonds.

We started working on the centerpieces for the tables.

A little bit of denim, a little burlap and alotta BLING! Wouldn't these be cute for a sweet country wedding?

We will be workin' on this all week so stay tuned for more ideas and don't forget where ya'll can find us next...November 4-5 we will be at Evergreen State Fairgrounds....on November 18 & 19 we will be at the Washington State Fairgrounds Puyallup, WA.

Ever Wonder Why We Started All This Junkin Stuff? Here's A Look Back....

This blog is dedicated to FUNKY JUNK SISTER #1, my mother, Dixie. She is the original "Junk Queen".

She taught me how to decorate on a budget. That means that you went rummaging at garage sales, estate sales and flea markets all the time. And I do mean all of the time, if we were in the car with mom we were on the hunt. She would turn in at every garage sale sign she saw, and as kids, believe me, that wasn't always a good thing. She would hear the whining too. "Not another one! Let's go home!"

If my brothers were in the car, oh Lordy watch out. They would make her miserable all the way home for that last stop. The trip home wasn't a short one either. We lived in a small town north of Spokane, Washington so the ride home took about 35 minutes.

When we arrived back at the farm everyone that didn't make the trip into town with her was forced (seriously forced) to see all of her new finds.

Back then I didn't appreciate the things she found. Now it's a different story.... now I have taken all that she taught me and turned it into money, treasures, or heirlooms for my family. Thanks Mom, I finally get it!!
